A Study Of Nanchang Tea-picking Opera Vocabulary

Nanchang Tea-picking opera is one of the first group of operas that have been listed as the national intangible cultural heritage.According to the provisions in the "Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage",appropriate measures have to be adopted to effectively protect,respect and promote the intangible cultural heritage.Yet the development of Nanchang Tea-picking opera has met an obstacle which is the general public's lack of knowledge of it.Currently,the public's knowledge of Nanchang Tea-picking remains in the general collection of historical data and superficial narration.There is an obvious shortage of in depth study of Nanchang Tea-picking opera.Even if there are some studies,they are mainly from the perspective of music and art.The linguistic characteristics of Nanchang Tea-picking opera,an oral literature,have been neglected.Reasons can be found both from the external and the internal fronts.The internal reason is that the development of Nanchang tea picking itself can not kept up with the changing times and society.While the external reason lies in the influence of other cultures as well as the transformation of people's ideas.Overlook of Nanchang Tea-picking opera will bring a negative impact,reducing people's attention and research efforts to it.These hinder the promotion of Nanchang culture,and even adversely affect the protection of intangible cultural heritage.To achieve better protection and development of Nanchang Tea-picking opera,and make the scripts more attractive,it is obligatory to demonstrate its unique cultural and artistic charm by analyzing the vocabulary from the perspective of linguistics through comparative study.Some research approaches shall be applied during this process: literature review,sampling,field survey,comparison method,etc.This paper falls into three parts.The first part is introductory,introduces Nanchang Tea-picking opera,the research status,the research purpose and the significance,the research method,the corpus source and the explanation of Nanchang Tea-picking opera.The second part is the main body of this thesis which elaborates Nanchang Tea-picking opera from four perspectives.Firstly,it discusses the connection between the vocabulary of Nanchang Tea-picking opera vocabulary and Nanchang dialect from the aspects of pronunciation and syllable,morpheme,word type,basic word,core word and characteristic word.Secondly,a comparison of vocabulary in the new and old version of the opera "Fang Qing Xi Gu" which analyzes the popularity of these two scripts and the reason of the adaptation and recreation of the old script.The third part of the main body extracts the characteristics of Nanchang Tea-picking opera.The final part of the main body analyzes the current situation and predicament of Nanchang tea picking opera development.In addition,suggestions are given from the linguistic point of view.The final part is the conclusion,which rounds off the discussion and presents a review of the whole thesis.Through the longitudinal comparison,it can be seen that use of Nanchang dialect vocabulary is reduced,and the words are more standardized in Nanchang Tea-picking opera.Therefore,conclusion can be made that the vocabulary in Nanchang Tea-picking opera is more conflated,situational,regional,arbitrary,popular and of true nature,and consistency.From the perspective of lexical research,Nanchang Tea-picking has expanded the scope and field of research,and provided a new research direction and angle for the comprehensive development of Nanchang Tea-picking opera.It advocates the protection and improvement and innovation of scripts,conducive to the selective use of dialect vocabulary and cultivation of talents with linguistic sensitivity.All these contributes to better preservation and development of Nanchang Tea-picking opera.
