Practice Study Report On E-C Translation Of All The Light We Cannot See (Excerpts)

In the 1960s,Receptional Aesthetic Theory that represented by Jauss Hans Robert and Isser Wolfgang,emerged in the Western.Receptional Aesthetic Theory emphasizes the central role of the reader and puts focus on the aesthetic experience of the reader.Under the guidance of Receptional Aesthetic Theory,the translator completed the translation work of the first 2 chapters of American contemporary popular literature All the Light We Cannot See and summed up the whole translation project as well as elaborating the aesthetic strategy in literary translation.This paper is a study report of translation practice.Based on the translator's work,this report makes an introduction to the whole project and makes a discussion that the Receptional Aesthetic Theory has a significant guiding role on literary translation.The paper is supported by the analyses of real translation cases.This translation report contains four major parts.The first part introduces this translation project in general,which includes the introduction to this novel and the purpose as well as the meaning of this practice.The second part describes this translation program,which contains the preparation before the translation,the process during the translation and the conclusion after the translation.The third part makes a brief introduction to Receptional Aesthetic Theory and makes a discussion that Receptional Aesthetic Theory should mainly focused on three aspects in translation:the beauty of language,the creation of a nice expecting view for readers,and the recreation made by translator.The fourth part of this report illustrates the translation strategy under the guidance of Receptional Aesthetic Theory through cases from the translator's work.This report gives an idea that translators can use Reception Aesthetic Theory as a guidance in literal translation to acquire more freedom and to create a better aesthetic view for readers.In conclude,to make the translation version more like a literature is a real success for every translator.
