Wang Minghe is a famous general in Wanli period of Ming Dynasty. During the wars that lasted more than 30 years,he left many books, among which the most extraordinary one is Deng Tan Bi Jiu.According to the specific principles,he did a lot of research,which enabled him to complete such rich and illustrated military materials.No wonder that it is regarded as encyclopedia.This book contains 72 types of military battle, especially in military defence,military exercise,soldier selection,flexible combat and logistical support.All these mainly embody Wang Minghe's military thought.Before introducing each part,he uses the pattern "Wang Minghe says" to briefly explain the content of each aspect.This not only helps the readers to have a clear outline of each part,but also shows his military thought and aspirations to serve the country. The compilation of this books plays an important part in popularizing the military knowledge and improving the military quality of qenerals.Besides,it is valuable for preserving the document and the compilation of other miliry books.Meanwhile,both Deng Tan Bi Jiu and Wu Bei Zhi are great military books in the late Ming Dynasty. There are similarities and differences between them.To have a systematic comparison of these two is helpful to show the value and contributions of Deng Tan Bi Jiu.All in all,this book concerns all the aspects of military battle,with the aim of improving the military quality of generals,saving the crisis situation and protecting people's lives.Deng Tan Bi Jiu in the integrated military art has the important position,which forms a connecting link between the preceding and is one of the most tuned poems of ancient Chinese art of writings.Through the analysis of the contents and thoughts of the book, I hope that this book will play an unique and important role among the military books.
