The Research On The Military Geography Of Guizhou In The Ming Dynasty(1368-1644)

History military geography is a branch discipline of historical geography and also an important part of historical human geography.However,it has not been given enough attention in academic circle of historical geography,and regional related research is still scarce.Guizhou began to become an independent province in the Ming Dynasty.The construction of the province has strong military significance,but at present,the research on military geography of Guizhou in Ming Dynasty is still very weak.Therefore,from the perspective of military geography,this paper uses the Ming Dynasty as a time node and Guizhou as a spatial scope to discuss its military geography.On the basis of the objective exposition of the military geographical environment of Guizhou in the Ming Dynasty,this paper attempts to show the construction,changes and contradictions of the military defense system of the Ming Dynasty in Guizhou,to explore the number,spatial and temporal distribution characteristics and reasons of the occurrence of Guizhou's large and small wars,and to carefully reflect the characteristics of Guizhou's military geography through the study of classic war cases.Accordingly,this article hopes to supplement research of historical military geography and Guizhou regional history,and to provide historical reference for contemporary Guizhou's national defense construction.The first chapter of the paper focuses on the military geographical environment of Guizhou in the Ming Dynasty.Specifically speaking,this part which mainly showing the natural geographical environment of Guizhou in the Ming dynasty from eight aspects of geographical location,strategic position,topography,geomorphology,hydrology,climate,vegetation and disaster,showing the social environment of Guizhou in the Ming dynasty from four aspects of population,ethnic,social economy and the amphibious transportation,discussing history evolution of Guizhou and its organizational system,division,changing process in the Ming Dynasty,and exploring respectively the influence of various factors on Guizhou's military activities in the Ming Dynasty.The second chapter of the paper focuses on the military defense system of Guizhou in the Ming Dynasty.Concretely speaking,this part which mainly exploring the deployment of Guizhou's military power from the vicissitude of guarding post,the source and composition of the troops,and distribution of the sentry,studying the post transmission of Guizhou from the vicissitude of post road,post station and post point,exploring the city defense of Guizhou from the construction and development of the city and the pass,studying the logistics support of Guizhou from the sources of grain,transportation and storage conditions,explaining the contradictions and changes in Guizhou's military defense system,and summarizing the main strategic areas of Guizhou.The third chapter first clarifying the concept of war and the statistical conditions of the scope of space and time and then making a comprehensive and systematic analysis of the war situation in the Guizhou area of the Ming Dynasty and discussing its distribution characteristics from two aspects of time and space,and analyzing the influencing factors from four aspects of ethnic relations,local officialdom,social economy and natural environment.The fourth chapter based on the famous warfare in Guizhou area of the Wanli period-Bozhou war,analyzing the military geographical environment and strategic position of Bozhou-the locality of this war--from the point of military geography,making clear the military deployment and process of the war and discussing the application of specific tactics of guerrilla,ambush and storm fortifications in the special geographical environment The epilogue of this paper summarizing the characteristics of military geography in Guizhou in the Ming Dynasty and analyzing some problems of Guizhou in the Ming Dynasty from the perspective of military geography.
