C-e Translation Strategies Of Sentences In Technical Texts From The Perspective Of Adaptation Theory

Translation is a process to reorganize language information and to adapt to the other language.In such a process,linguistic choice must be adapted to communicative and linguistic context,which involves language structures at all levels and includes significant degree of consciousness in making adaptation.Therefore,translators of technical texts need to understand not only the differences between Chinese and English in structure of sentence and means of expression,but also the writing characteristics and translating requirements of technical texts.When translating Chinese sentences in technical texts into English,translators should adapt to the language convention of target language readers,but the translation criteria of technical texts as well.Selecting examples from the User Manuals of Syncplant Intelligentized Management and Control System,this paper analyzes C-E translation process of sentences and explores translation strategies in terms of adapting to accuracy and readability of the translation.The strategies of adapting to translation accuracy include defining the subject of a sentence,making words in a sentence accurate,explicating the logical relation of a sentence and dividing Chinese sentences;the strategies of adapting to translation readability include using imperative sentences,distinguishing interface elements,using parallelism and testing readability.
