A Report On Translation Of The Best Of Me (Excerpts)

With more and more international communications between China and other foreign countries,translation has become one of the most important ways to exchange meaningful information.And the literature,especially the translation of foreign literature is quite common in people's daily life.To enrich the social and cultural atmosphere,it is our honor and responsibility to translate famous foreign literature works into Chinese.This paper aims to translate an English novel into Chinese with the aid of suitable translation skills,and analyze the translation skills used during the English-Chinese translation process.The English originals are excerpts(about 10 thousands words)of one of Nicholas Spark's famous novels,which has been brought to the screen in 2014 but not yet published in China.Through this translation,more Chinese readers could experience this pure love story told by Nicholas Sparks.Furthermore,this report also provides some case explanations,showing the application of those translation skills.In general,this practice not only helps readers know more about western fiction,but also promotes the translator's translation skills.This paper consists of four chapters: Chapter One is about an overview on the whole project;Chapter Two introduces the translation object;Chapter Three,the most important part of this report,describes the process of the whole project,and analyzes some skills applied during the translation;Chapter Four makes a conclusion about this translation.
