The Analysis Of Modern Chinese Structure "X Er Y Zhi"

In the morden Chinese,there are some phrases like “ti er dai zhi”,“ren er shou zhi”,“tui er kai zhi”,“xiao er na zhi”,“suo er xiao zhi”.These phrases consist of two function words “er” and “zhi” as well as two variables.With high productivity and flexibility,this structure is widely used by people.So I write this dissertation to analyze the structure “x er y zhi”.The first chapter is the introduction.This chapter is mainly to introduce the purpose of the dissertation,the related research findings other scholars did and the research object.Apart from that,I elaborate the research perspectives,theory,methodology,value and the data source of the dissertation.The second chapter is the analysis of the components and the syntactical functions.The first part is to study the features of the constant “er” and “zhi” and points out that their characteristics will affect the whole structure and the variables.The second part is to analyze the properties of variables in syllable,grammar and sequence and study the regularity of sequence in depth.The third part is the analysis of the structure.The research and the classification of the structure “x er y zhi” which has different syntactical features are in this part.The last part of this chapter is the analysis of syntactical functions.The third chapter is the semantic analysis of the structure “x er y zhi”.The first two parts are to analyze the internal and cognitive semantic relations between “x” and “y” and divide the internal semantic relations into two parts: the coordinate relations and the uncoordinate relations.The third part is to summarize the external meanings of the structure and divide it into three parts: emphasizing the character and state,emphasizing the background and result,emphasizing the interval and sequences of different actions.The forth part is mainly to study the classification of semantic orientation and find out the theory supports as well as its expression functions.In the end,the semantic features of the variables are studied and concluded.The forth chapter is the analysis of pragmatic features.The first part is to introduce the pragmatic functions of the structure.The second part is to explain what “zhi” refers to and why people could understand the heterogeneous orientation from Relevance theory.The fifth chapter is the cognitive research of the structure.The first part is to study the extend meanings of the components.The second part is to analyze the conceptual integration level and set the standards for it.The third part is to study the reason why the examples of medium and advanced conceptual integration levels are few by Cognitive theory.The last chapter is the conclusion which summarizes the contents of the previous four chapters,and it points out the shortcomings of this study and the future research plan.
