Nowadays, China has entered into the network information age and the network catchword becomes a part of Chinese people's life. With the development of China, foreigners are eager to know China because of the increasing international influence of China and charms of Chinese culture. Chinese network catchwords are just an important and effective way for foreigners to learn today's China in time. Therefore, it is a significant task and a cultural mission for translators to translate Chinese network catchwords. The thesis discusses the best C-E translation strategies and methods of Chinese network catchwords from the perspectives of the three rules of the skopos theory (skopos rule, coherence rule, fidelity rule). The fundamental rule of the skopos theory is skopos rule and the skops of translation determines translation strategies and methods. The thesis presents best translations of the catchwords by collecting many network catchwords and their translations, and analyzing the representative network catchwords and their translations under the guidance of the skopos theory to get best translation catchwords of Chinese network catchwords. Finally, the thesis finds out translation strategies and methods of Chinese network catchwords. Foreignization is the main translation strategy with the supplement of domestication. Six translation methods under the foreignization strategy, are transliteration, transliteration plus annotation, transliteration plus literal translation, Chinglish translation, literal translation and literal translation plus annotation. Three translation methods under the domestication strategy are back translation,imitation translation and free translation.
