| Job satisfaction is an important parameter to measure the quality of primary and secondary school teachers’ work.Primary and secondary school teachers that have higher job satisfaction usually show more initiative and enthusiasm,but who have lower job stisfaction are more likely to switch jobs.Seeing that not only is job satisfaction an importanat factor affecting the career development of primary and secondary school teachers,but also affect the psychological development and psychological health of the students,so it is necessary to reveal the risk factors and protective factors affecting the job satisfaction of primary and secondary school teachers.A large number of studies have shown that many family factors affect the individual’s job,but some specific variables in family,for example,marital relationship,etc,affect the work is still relatively rare,and only studies are performed in the foreign cultural background.In view of this,this research mainly studies relationship between primary and secondary school teachers’ marital relationship and job satisfaction in China.In addition,previous studies have shown that emotional reactions in a certain field will overflow and affect another roles,therefore,this study attempts to reveal the mechanism of emotional reactions in marriage between Primary and secondary school teachers’ marital relationship and job satisfaction in China.This study will also further investigate whether primary and secondary school teachers’ social support had impact on job satisfaction by means of moderating the relationship between marital relationship and positive emotional responses.In study 1,we used the structured interviews to explore whether primary and secondary school teachers’ marital relationship had an impact on their job satisfaction,and whether their emotional reactions in marriage had an impact on their job satisfaction.Our 10 subjects were from Gansu province and Shandong province(5male teachers,5 female teachers).The interview process was operated by researcher independently,the interview results were repeatedly listened by the researcher to record and encode.In study 2,620 teachers were selected from the primary and secondary schools in Gansu province and Shandong province as the research subjectswith Marital Relationship Questionnaire,Positive and Negative Affect Scale(PANAS),Teachers’ job satisfaction questionnaire,and Social support scale.At least,we obtained 597 valid questionnaires.The main conclusions were as follows:(1)The main factors effecting the job satisfaction of teachers in primary and secondary schools had emotional factors,school factors and family factors.School factors that effect job satisfaction of teachers in primary and secondary schools mainly included financial subsidies,teacher resources,physical environments,colleague relationship,teacher-student relationship,student achievement,working time,welfare benefits,professional title appraisal,management policy,and so on.while the family factors included marital relationship,parent-child relationship,economic pressure,and so on.(2)There were significant gender differences in primary and secondary school teachers’ job satisfaction;Female teachers’ job satisfaction was significantly higher than male teachers.(3)Primary and secondary school teachers’ marital relationship had significant positive correlation with positive emotional responses,job satisfaction and social support,but marital relationship had significant negative correlation with negative emotional responses.Positive emotional responses had significant positive correlation with job satisfaction and social support.Negative emotional responses had significant negative correlation with job satisfaction and social support.Job satisfaction had significant positive correlation with social support.(4)Primary and secondary school teachers’ marital relationship directly predicted job satisfaction.As a result,primary and secondary school teachers with a high score on the marital relationship will experience higher job satisfaction,while some others who had a low score on the marital relationship will experience lower job satisfaction.(5)Primary and secondary school teachers’ emotional response in marriage played a partial mediating role on the relationship between marital relationship and job satisfaaction,that is,primary and secondary school teachers’ marital relationship indirectly predicted job satisfaction through the emotional reactions in the marriage.(6)Primary and secondary school teachers’ objective support had impact on job satisfaction by means of moderating the relationship between marital relationship and positive emotional responses.That is,compare to primary and secondary schoolteachers with the low objective support,who with the high objective support hve more positive response and higher level of job satisfaction;in addition,with the continuous improvement of the marital relationship,primary and secondary school teachers’ positive emotional responses in marriage who have high objective support will increase significantly,who are more likely to have a high level of postive emotional responses,thereby enhancing the perception of job satisfaction. |
