Science fiction is a kind of literary genre that emerged in the western countries.The theory of science and technology is the basic of it.The science fiction fostered readers' imagination to a certain extent and gave them the imagination of the future.As a result,the productivity and creativity got progress.The aim of literary translation is translate one language to the others,so the translation of science fiction belongs to the literary translation.This report extracts the original text from The Grace of Kings which written by the Chinese-American writer Ken Liu.The main purpose of this report is to research the instruction function of skopos theory during the process of literary translation.The skopos theory was created in 1970 s in Germany.It belongs to functionalist translation theory and experienced four stages.There are three principles of skopos theory: skopos rule,coherence rule and fidelity rule.During the process of translation,the writer tried to express the author's intentions correctly under the guidance of skopos theory and made the sentence smooth to amuse the readers.By this means the readers will be interested in this story and improve the read experience.Nowadays the science fictions are returning to the readers' horizon and getting their attention,the writer hopes this report will be beneficial to more translation of excellent English science fiction.
