The economic globalization has promoted trade between different countries.Since China's entry into the World Trade Organization,its ties with the rest of the world have been tremendously strengthened.Due to China's rapid economic development,people's need for better goods and services are increased.Under such a backdrop,an increasing number of foreign goods are exported into Chinese market.As a daily travel must,cars are no exception.In terms of functions and operations,many of the foreign cars are not the same as Chinese ones.Hence,to learn them is demanded for car users.An effective way is to read the car manual.However,many of the car users have difficulty understanding the original manual,therefore,a high-quality translated one is required.As a typical technical text,the manual introduces product performance,operating methods,notice,etc.to users.A high-quality car manual not only is helpful for car users to have a quick grasp of its performance and operation procedures but also is conducive to the establishment of corporate identity and enlargement of its market,which is a win-win.This paper is completed based on the translation of Cadillac 2016 CT6 User Manual.Because the manual has to be objective,concise and precise,it needs to avoid using complex words and sentence structures.Due to the fact that nonfinite verbs can replace various omitted components and subordinate clauses shortening sentences,thus,it can always be seen in a car manual.By analyzing different components of nonfinite verbs in sentences,the paper explores the translation strategies of participles,infinitives and gerunds.
