Pipa,which is known as Chinese lute.It is an instrument that came from the western area of China which has developed and improved constantly for over several dynasties.With the increasement of taste,the reinforcement of technological difficulty during the process of playing lute,we have made unprecendeted progress in the expressive forece of music.On account of that,lute is a twelve tone scale(twelve-tone equal temperament)instrument,we are able to play ample chords,show multiple fingerings.These things remind composers to creat modern works with enthusiasm.Modern composers have produced lots of mastrpieces.For me,I have a preference for works by Wing-fai Law,especially for the two works-One Thousand Sweeps,Flowing Fancies connected with Chinese calligraphy.By playing and researching his works,I find that he prefers to employ the western musical frame in his process of producing.He often swithes with twelve-tone equal temperament at will in the mainbody of music,while they are also covered with Chinese lingering charm and colors.However,can catch the pipa's tones and features so skillfully that he makes his works well performed in this instrument,pipa.This article is aimed to take these two works One Thousand Sweeps,Flowing Fancies for example so that we can research its features and the related issues of the second creation of Wing-fai Law' works,what's more I just talk with you about what effect his works has on modern music of pipa.
