It is an English to Chinese translation practice report basing on the second and third chapters of feminism work Dangerous Ideas,which is written by Australia feminism research scholar Susan Magarey and published by University of Adelaide Press in 2014.The main content of the second chapter is about development conditions of sisterhood and women’s liberation in Australia and the third chapter is about the reason why The Feminist Food Guide appeared at that time and its influence.With the background of that women’s status raising and feminism topics remaining hot in nowadays society,it is sure that above content will increase people’s understanding on feminism developing process and feminism topics,moreover,it will offer more related materials to Chinese feminism research scholars.Dangerous Ideas belonging to informative text according to the theory of typology,there are many titles of magazines/literal works and lots of complex long sentences,which increase the difficulties in language understanding and translation for the author.Thus,the author analyzes translation methods of titles and complex sentences in the report in detail.At first,in terms of titles translation,the author classifies these titles into three types according to whether they have had translation versions: titles with fixed translation version,titles with some translation versions and titles with no translation version,and then translates them with methods of remaining fixed translation version,analyzing existing translation versions and drawing their strengths,following faithfulness principle and taking various factors into consideration respectively.Then,in terms of complex sentence translation,since many complex sentences in the source text present a main clause with several subordinate clauses structure or overlapping subordinate clauses structure,the author applies methods of splitting,rearranging sentences and readjusting word order to reconfigure sentence structures,making the translation corresponding to Chinese expression.Even though this source text is rather difficult to translate,the author tried to make it accurate and fluent,with the help of reading various related materials and applying variety of translation tools,to make it be understood by readers much easily.
