As global warming continues to worsen and the ecological environment is adversely affected,it is necessary to increase human attention to global climate changes.Popular science texts publicize and popularize scientific knowledge to the public in plain languages.At present,the demand for the translation of popular science texts is also increasing.This report is based on the translation project in which Dangerous Earth(Chapter One)was selected as the source text,which is an environmental popular text,mainly talking about the scientists’ researches for melting iceberg,extreme weather events and Marine biological death caused by climate change,so as to call for human beings to take measures to protect the earth.This report focuses on the issues in doing the project at the lexical,syntactic,textual and rhetorical levels.This text contains a lot of words and knowledge about geology,ocean and atmosphere.The language is more concise,and there are many attributive clauses,conditional sentences and sentences containing dashes.Some figures of speech are used in the expression,such as metaphor,pun,etc.This report applied Li Changshuan’s CEA framework(Comprehension,Expression,Adaptation)as the guidance theory,which permeates the whole process of the concrete translation practice.Based on “Comprehension,Expression and Adaptation”,the author explored translation difficulties of the text and put forward the corresponding solutions,and then summed up the translation techniques of popular science texts.Through this translation practice,the author realizes that correct comprehension is the premise of translation,and it is necessary to have a deep understanding of the content and stylistic features of the original text.At the level of “expression”,the translator should pay attention to the differences in expression between Chinese and English,and make the translation more consistent with the purpose and norms through conversion of parts of speech and adjustment of word order.In addition,according to the specific context,four-character idioms should be skillfully utilized to make the translation more readable.
