| In the twentieth century,the history of Chinese art(the history of painting)was transformed from tradition to modern.Tong Shuye had researched on the history of Chinese painting in depth,and had made great achievements.His research has important significance for understanding the history of Chinese painting,guiding the study of present art history and the development of Chinese Art History in the twentieth century.It would make him a simportant place in that fruitful times.Tong Shuye studied the history of Chinese painting in depth mainly from the two categories of painting type and painting periodic.Tong Shuye focused on the study of painting type,especially the textual research of landscape painting.He spent a lot of ink on the research of the whole development of landscape painting from the Lao-Zhuang philosophical perspective.He believed that landscape painting originated in the background of the expansion of figure painting,and established in the Tang Dynasty that both fine brushwork and freehand brushwork formal formed,and thrived in the Song Dynasty.He focused on distinguishing the landscape painting of the "North and South".He thought that this division lacked of historical basis and the demarcation was unknown,and at the same time there was many internal contradictions.He established the Northern and Southern of landscape painting to critique that theory.Tong Shuye examined the transformation of the flower and bird painting by distinguishing the two painting styles between Xu Xi and Huang Quan,and he analyzed the heyday of portrait painting by utilizing Marxism historical materialism.In his view,the rise of portraiture in Tang Dynasty was based on the interesting of nobility.It was the tool for the ruling class.In the study of painting periodic,he mainly researched the painting history of the Song Yuan Ming Qing dynasties.He thought Song Huizong enthroning the court painting made it prosperity.By comparative analysis of the six painter’s drawing who very famous in the Yuan Dynasty,he revealed the style of literati painting.Tong Shuye carded the evolution of the whole struggle system between various schools of painting.It was divided into three stages that was Zhe School,Wu faction and many painting schools beyond orthodoxy.Tong Shuye’s research of Chinese painting history presents three characteristics:first,he used the Marxist perspective to research the history of painting.His research focused on exploring the law of painting from the economic base,and his method of textual is from complex to simple.Second,he tried to construct the general history offine arts from multiple dimensions.He studied painting and porcelain that both belong to the category of Art,and discussed several topics from the aesthetic dimension.His study involved a large span of time and covered a wide range.Third,textual criticism of history facts with arguing.He studied painting with the logic of historiography,and the method of Gu Jiegang’s theory on ancient history successfully was introduced to the study of painting history by him.This method made him formed a distinctive textual characteristics.Compared with Fu Baoshi,Teng Gu and Zheng Chang,because of nearly two decades of private school education,Tong Shuye’s historical tradition and Confucianism are more intense.Most of his works are presented in the form of a monograph.Although there is not a complete "Chinese painting history" or "history" Chinese forming art,but his research on painting and art is of guiding significance,even the achievements in the research of the South painting,landscape painting "north and South" and the Qing Dynasty porcelain kiln test and other aspects of the work is open up.He cleared up a number of controversial issues with a keen sense of academic research,detailed textual criticism and insightful reflection.He reveals the law of development of painting history and reality. |
