| "Zenme X Dou Y/-Y" is a construction widely used in Mandarin.The paper selects the sentences which contain the construction in corpus and give a research on construction identify,component analysis and pragmatic function.This paper can be divided into four parts:The first part is a brief introduction,which introduces the significances and backgrounds of the research.It points out the corpus sources as well.According to the three principles from Goldberg,it proves that "Zenme X Dou Y/-Y" is a construction in Mandarin,for the fact that the meaning of the construction can not be predicted from"Zenme" and ’"Dou" which is constant in the construction,and it is a combination of form and meaning,widely used in Chinese as well.The second part is a study of "Zenme X Dou Y/-Y" through the theory of Construction Program Analysis Frame."Zenme" is constant in the construction,which refers to something in specific context.Composed of verbs and verb phrases and nouns with adjectives as attributive,"X" is variable in the construction."Dou" is also constant in the construction,there is multiple semantics in the construction;"Y" is also variable and has positive form and negative form.It is composed of verbs and adjectives and volitive auxiliaries,and conveys declarative semantics.The third part is a research on the pragmatic functions of the construction.There are four main functions.The first function is describing the facts or the speakers’ own judgment;The second function is showing subjectivity which shows the speaker is confident of what he says;The third function is accentual function.Through "Zenme"and "Dou",the construction can emphasize facts and the subjective cognition;The last function of "Zenme X Dou Y/-Y" is textual function focus on semantic connection including semantic anaphora,semantic coherence and complementary explanation.The fourth part is a conclusion of the whole paper.This part summarizes the research results of the whole text,and points out the shortcomings. |
