| There are two modes of teaching Chinese as a second language. One is classroom teaching, mostly common in all kinds of colleges and universities, the other is one-on-one teaching, including one-on-one class that has teaching plans and outline and tutorial class as a supplement of classroom teaching. There is a distinctive feature of one-on-one teaching that differs from classroom teaching. It widely exists in a variety of social institutions of Chinese teaching and most of the learners are company employees who come to work in China from their mother country. There are also some family members of these foreign employees. They have their own learning goals, motivation and learning strategies.Learning effects are also different.I found in teaching practice that some students like discussing with teachers while some students like to follow textbooks strictly. But sometimes the teaching effect is not satisfactory.According to the principle of the student-centered theory, teachers should choose the most suitable teaching methods for students. In this article I selected a unique one-on-one teaching case and kept a record of the teaching object, teaching arrangements, teaching effects, teaching reflection and other aspects.I try to combine and optimize the teaching methods.Relative to classroom teaching,I consider more about the individual needs and personality characteristics of all the students in order to study how to better combine the student-centered theory with teaching practice and improve the effect of one-on-one Chinese teaching. At the same time, this article can provide empirical materials for future research through re-writing the recording of my own teaching experience. In theory,it can have a further understanding of personality characteristics of one-on-one teaching and the student-centered theory.Although there are some problems in one-on-one teaching,it has characteristics and advantages that are different from classroom teaching. Its pertinence can make teachers draw special teaching plans and choose efficient teaching methods according to students’ personality characteristics, learning needs and other factors. In one-on-one class, the choice of teaching skills should consider the preferences and acceptance of students. The teaching method used in the class should be revised and optimized along with the change of the student level.Teachers should be concerned about students’ mood changes and the relationship between teachers and students should be more equal and harmonious. |
