| Interpretation is a very practical new discipline.Interpreting training models help people understand the interpretating process and its working principle.Xiamen University interpreting training model(referred to as Xiada Model)was proposed by Professor Lin Yuru based on the teaching and research collaboration between Xiamen University and the University of Westminster. This model divides interpretation into three parts: comprehension(C),reconstruction(R)and analysis(A).In the mean time it highlights the importance and leading role of interpreting skills(S)and professionalism(P)during training. This pattern, which is a non-linear mode, shows that interpreting involves two stages: comprehension of the original text(C)and the reconstruction of the original meaning(R)with the target language. This communication process can only be achieved by analyzing(A)the cross-cultural factors contained in the discourse(D)and specific contexts, and all these depend on the interpreter’s skills and professionalism.Interpreting training model as a very instructive training method for interpreting practice provides a clearer goal for the interpreters to understand the competencies regarding in the interpreting.Under the guiding principle of Xiada model, combined with real first-hand materials of simultaneous interpretation and practical experiences of the author as well as other interpreters,it is author’s intention that this thesis draws on insights from these training approaches in the hope of heightening and refining interpreter’s pragmatic awareness and the ability to converse language in a conscious manner. As illustrated in the detailed elaboration of the preparation, comprehension, expression and analysis of interpretation in the main body of this thesis, the result of this thesis is that Xiada Model not only brings inspiration to interpreting teaching, but also provides valuable concepts and methods for interpreting learners. It is hoped that this paper may shed some light on the training course in consecutive interpretation and more work will come to the fore in the future. |
