With the development of cultural communication in the world,translation has become an indispensable bridge.Essays,novels,poems and plays are called the four literary genres.For the translation of the novel,how to overcome the different language habits and how to vividly present the plot of the original plot become the author’s key task.This paper is a report on the translation practice of Man and Wife.According to the different content in the novel,the author chose Semantic Translation Theory and Communicative Translation Theory to match them.Apart from theories,many translation skills are used in the process.The author’s aim is to make the translated version consistent with the original as far as possible both in content and style,making the readers enjoy the same literary effect.In the text,the entire translation process and the related text processing method is summarized.The report is made up of four parts: introduction,text description,case analysis and summaries.In the main part—case analysis,there are expounded explanations for used translation theories respectively according to the classification.Besides,the translation methods for English-Chinese translation are also listed.This report not only represents the analysis of translation case but also provides an instance of essay translation.
