In recent years,the teaching and relevant researches of teaching Chinese as a foreign languages have greatly developed.Composition teaching is a important nut in teaching of TCSL.However,the research upon writing teaching is far less than enough.Text teaching has constantly been a weak part within the system of language teaching.The theory of textual cohesion provides the theoretical guideline in this article.Moreover,I will refer,in this article,to my own Chinese-teaching experience in Thailand,collecting and analyzing more than 200 essays from Suan Dusit Rajabhat University?Phetchaburi Rajabhat University(PBRU)?Jian-Hua School,Nakhonpathom?Ratwittaya School,Phetchaburi.This article contains six chapters.The first chapter is an introduction,which mainly clarifies the reasons of choosing the topic,bibliographical review,methodology as well as the originality.The second chapter will build the theoretical foundation,in which I will elaborate on the interface among "text" "the theory of textual cohesion" as well as "means of textual cohesion" and divide the means of textual cohesion into seven categories,namely,reference,ellipsis,substitution,logical cohesion,repetition,collocation,and the whole-and-part relation.In the third chapter,I will point out some errors in students' essays,in respect of reference,ellipsis,substitution,conjunction and lexical cohesion.In the fourth chapter,I will analyze and summarize the causes of errors made by Thai students in their essays,which mainly include:negative transfer of mother tongue.negative transfer of target language?teachers and so on.In the fifth chapter,I will point out the feasible methods to correct their errors,and provide my suggestions to improve the quality of Chinese language teaching to Thai students.The last chapter is a conclusion,in which I shall conclude my main points,and also emphasize the limitations.
