| The aim of second language teaching is to cultivate learner’s ability to communicate by applying the target language. In the practical teaching, teachers focus more on the practice of vocabulary or grammar. But the teaching on syntagm or text is neglected, especially in the primary stage of Chinese teaching.The thesis takes the overseas students who are at the primary level of Chinese as the research targets, and their writings or composition as language materials, from which the thesis will sort out the errors on textual cohesion and make an analysis on the causes to errors by means of the theories of text linguistics and interlanguage. On the basis of that, some suggestions on text teaching will be put forward. The purpose of the thesis is to explore the necessity and importance of text teaching at the primary level of Chinese teaching. It is hopeful that the thesis will draw teacher’s attention on text teaching. Meanwhile, the thesis will do some exploration on how to carry out the text teaching at the primary level.The thesis is composed of five chapters.Chapter one is introduction. It introduces the importance of text study on the teaching of Chinese that is taught as the second language, the current state of text teaching and the research purpose and significance of the thesis.Chapter two is the theoretical part. It introduces the theories of textual cohesion and the errors on textual cohesion in Chinese learning.Chapter three is the design of research.Chapter four and five are the main bodies. Firstly, on the basis of clarifying the related notions, students’ errors on textual cohesion will be described and discussed. Secondly, the features of the errors will be concluded by the statistics on the numbers of errors and the causes to the errors will be analyzed. Lastly, combined with the author’s teaching experience, some suggestions on the text teaching to overseas students will be put forward. The thesis will be concluded. |
