The purpose of this paper is to investigate the influence of different motivational intensity in affect on attentional networks of normal adults.Firstly, the emotional pictures are classified according to their motivational intensity through evaluated by the participates in study 1.From study 2 to 5,we applied those pictures into ANT-I paradigm(attention network test-interactions)to measure the three attentional networks: alerting, orienting and executive control. The results suggest that:(a)in study 2 and study 3,when the emotional pictureswere presentedin 5000 ms,the motivational intensity in affect has no influence on the three attentional networks;(b)in study 4,whenpresented in 50 ms,thereis a significant main effect in picture types, and the simple effect analysis show that participants' response time in low-motivational positive picture condition is faster than high-motivational and neutral conditions;(c)in study 5,the pictures were presented in 50 ms too,and thereis a significantinteraction betwee picture type and alert signal. The simple effect analysis show that,in high-motivational negative picture condition,no matter the alert signal appears or not,the response time of participants is the same speed;however,in the low-motivational and neutral conditions, the participants' response time is always faster when there is a alert signal. In summary, the emotional pictures presented in a short time(50ms)are more benefical to the motivational intensity in affectto influence the three attentional networks than long time(5000ms)in the ANT-I paradigm.Compared to low-motivational negative emotion and neutral emotion, the high-motivational negative emotion reduce alerting, but have no significant inflence on orienting and executive control.
