The Interchangeable Possibilities Of Music And Film Techniques

This paper focuses on the pitch organization,rhythm and tempo,timbre and orchestration,structure composing technique analysis of the orchestral work "Laterna Magica" by the Finnish contemporary composer,Kaija Saariaho.It also compare the creation and development of the work to the autobiography and film of the Swedish film director,Ernst Ingmar Bergman,which is closely related to the work.This is to explore the inspiration obtained by the composer in other art forms and apply it to the possibility of art exchange in music composing.This paper consists of three parts:The first part is an introduction which describes the reasons for choosing the topic and the current research status and introduces Saariaho’s life and composition background.The second part is the main body,including four chapters:the first chapter is the composition background introduction of the orchestral work "Laterna Magica";the second chapter is the composition analysis.This chapter elaborates on the three aspects:the pitch organization,rhythm and tempo;the third chapter is the timbre and orchestration;the fourth chapter is the composition characteristics of "Laterna Mgica".The third part is the conclusion,it summarizes the composition techniques and creative thinking characteristics of Saariaho’s "Laterna Magicas".
