A Report On Translation Of Chinese Prequalification Documents Into English

In recent years,with the advancement of Belt and Road Initiative put forward by China,an increasing number of Chinese enterprises have been participating in competition of international engineering projects.As prequalification plays a very important role in tendering engineering projects,the translation quality of prequalification documents exerts a direct impact on an enterprise’s qualification to tender.This translation report is based on my internship at Business Department of Poten Environment Company from August to October,2016.The author was responsible for the translation work of the prequalification documents as part of our translation team.With the guidance of Skopos theory,this report aims to clarify the translation strategy and translation techniques in addressing translation difficulties.And this report proves the necessity of application of translation strategy and techniques,including the choice of words,transformation of parts of speech,addition and omission of words,rearranging and division of Chinese long and difficult sentence,Chinese active sentence translating into English passive sentence,Chinese sentence without subject translating into English passive sentence.The report states the professional ethics as a translator in translating prequalification text.The author expects to provide reference for other translators in translating prequalification documents.
