A Report On The Translation Of Achieving Skill Mobility In The ASEAN Economic Community

The source text Achieving Skill Mobility in the ASEAN Economic Community of this translation report is a socioeconomic report on the skill mobility of ASEAN and it was published by Asian Development Bank in 2015. The skill mobility in ASEAN will profoundly influence the employment growth, demographic structure and economic development in this area. In addition, the increasingly close ties between China and ASEAN enhance the necessity of a deeper understanding about both sides. According to CNKI,reports on ASEAN skill mobility in Chinese are not easy to find,which necessitates the translation of this original report.This translation report is divided into four parts. The first part introduces the background, source text and significance of this translation task. The second part is about the translation process: preparations before translation, difficulties in translation and proof-reading after translation. Part three introduces how to solve translation difficulties at lexical and syntactical level by means of case analysis under the guidance of functional equivalence theory and in light of different translation methods such as word class conversion, zero translation, addition, omission and rearrangement. The last part concludes the translation achievements, limitations and inspiration.The process of completing this translation report has improved my translation skills,deepened theoretical understanding and enriched background knowledge.
