With the abundance of fortunes and the improvement of quality of life, there are more and more Chinese people who attach importance to the happier and healthier lives. Therefore, they are eager to know how to change current lives and have better ones. Better than Before by Gretchen Rubin just tackles this question: if we want to change our lives,we have to change our habits. Just as Rubin said, self-knowledge is indispensible to successful habit formation, so the translator just chooses the first two chapters: Four Tendencies and Distinctions as the translation material. The translator hopes that the addressees could make a clear self-knowledge through exploring their own tendency and then choose the habit strategies that really work for them. Eventually, they could live a happier life. The translator discusses the problems which appear in the translation process and writes this translation report. And it has been divided into four parts, description of the translation task, description of the translation process, difficulties and solutions, and conclusion. The source text is a vocative text, which aims to transfer the accurate information to the target readers and encourage them to act. Therefore, the translator selects the skopostheorie as the theoretical foundation of this translation report. This translation report searches for effective translation methods guided by the skopos rule, the coherence rule and the fidelity rule in order to deal with the translation of the pragmatic text in the level of title, words and sentences. The Skopos theory, emphasizing on the functional equivalence between the original texts and the translation work has its practicability in guiding the translation practice. Therefore, the translation methods-- annotation and substitution are used to express the extended meanings of mythologies, slangs and the stories written by Shakespeare. The Skopos theory presents a feasible approach to make clear the sentence logical relation of special English sentence patterns, therefore several translation methods are used in the translation process, such as free translation, literal translation, reorganization, amplification omission and division, to make the target work more intelligible to the addressees.
