With the acceleration of economic globalization,the financial exchanges between different nations have strengthened without any doubt.In this context,exchanges and cooperation among banks have been more and more frequent nowadays.Therefore,the significance of external publicity information translation of banks at home and abroad is becoming more and more prominent undoubtedly.The writer intends to provide some useful references for related studies because researches on E-C translation of foreign banks’ publicity information are in demand to a large extent.The text falls into the category of a practice report in which the external publicity information of five British banks is used as the research contents.The writer accomplishes the E-C translation practice under that guidance of Skopostheorie put forward by Vermeer.The procedures to carry out this task can be mainly divided into three parts,the pre-translation preparations,the during-translation process,and the post-translation proofreading.The text aims to research the instructive functions of Skopostheorie in translation practice.The writer makes a detailed analysis of the functions of Skopotheorie in terms of glossary,syntax,and text with the adoption of the case analysis method.This translation practice provides some findings.First,linguistic features of banks’ foreign publicity information are distinctive.Proper nouns or terms frequently appear in banks’ external publicity information,and most verbs are simple.When it comes to syntactic characteristics,many compound and complicated sentences are involved in the banks’ external publicity information.And the passive voice is frequently used.Secondly,proper adoption and application of translation methods and translation strategies can benefit the translator a lot to produce a smooth translation.Thirdly,Skopostheorie can positively influence the translation process and translation outcome.Meanwhile,the concerned author has also got implications from the translation practice.First of all,the diction is very professional in banks’ foreign publicity information.Therefore,translators should refer to professional references in the translation procedure.None of them can be rashly treated.Moreover,translation theories and strategies play a decisive role in the translation process of banks’ foreign publicity information.What should also be mentioned is that banks’ external publicity translation calls for a high command of financial knowledge of the translators,which urges the concerned author to maintain a rigorous attitude towards the acquisition of related professional experience.
