As a translation report, this thesis chooses to translate two academic theses,"World Literature and Translation Studies" and "Hugo Meltzl and 'the Principle of Polyglottism'"from The Routledge Companion to World Literature,to explore translation strategies for academic papers.Different from other kinds of texts, academic papers contain the research results or reviews existing in particular fields, providing important reference for researchers. Therefore, the content of academic papers must be transferred accurately and completely in translations, while considering its intelligibility and readability.Applying Skopos theory, this thesis tries to find translation strategies to do that and how to make a choice when it is unavoidable to make concession in accuracy, completeness, intelligibility and readability. This thesis discusses the characteristics and translation strategies of academic theses from the three levels of word, sentence and discourse, expecting to provide some useful translation techniques for other academic theses translators, improving the quality of translations of academic theses.
