Aesthetics of translation is different from traditional models of western translation theories.because it has features of both translation and aesthetics. It boasts distinct Chinese characteristics and provides a special perspective for translation discussion.Don Juan is a classic satiric epic written by English romantic poet,George Gordon Byron.Among all the Chinese translations of Don Juan, the one translated by Zha Liangzheng is recognized as the best.It is widely acclaimed for its beautiful language and comprehensive representation of the source text's aesthetic factors. This translation work not only presents the due quality of faithfulness, expressiveness and elegance, but itself is a fine literature. This thesis analyzes Zha Liangzheng's translation of Don Juan based on aesthetics of translation. It considers the aesthetic style of the source text and the translator's representation of formal markers and non-formal markers in the original text.Through text analysis, the thesis attempts to find out about a fundamental question about aesthetics of translation:how should translators deal with and optimize an expression to represent it in another totally different language? This thesis concludes that in the aesthetic translation model,inter-lingual transformation requires a translator to consider formal markers in the source text, think about the author's cultural background and writing style under the general context, grasp the invisible beauty in the style of the source text, and choose the fittest and the best.A translator should represent the orientation of the target language from the perspective of formal and non-formal markers, present an appropriate proportion of his own style, and integrate his and the author's style.
