A Report On The Translation Of Yunnan Songs

Song translation is a special kind of translation,belonging to a new subject.A song is a combination of music and lyrics.Lyrics constitute the content of social life and literary image,and melody constitutes musical image.Yunnan is a province with the largest number of ethnic minorities in China.Folk singing activities play an important role in people's life.Yunnan songs can not only reflect people's social life at that time,but also express people's thoughts and feelings.This translation report summarizes the translation process.Through analyzing some cases,the report explores the suitable translation strategies and methods for song translation.The paper is divided into four main parts as shown below:Part 1 introduces the background of the translation task and the nature of the text;Part 2 describes the preparation work,including the background information,the choice of translation strategies and the analysis of the text;Part 3 focuses on the difficulties and case analysis of translation.Aiming at the features of song translation,it explores translation strategies of words and sentences in the song and lays emphasis on the collocation between translation and melody;Part 4 summarizes some problems in the process of translation and some enlightenment for future study.
