| Language is one of the most important tools for communication,through which people preserve and deliver the achievements of human culture,and thus language could reflect local culture.As a typical form of language,idiom is deeply influenced by local language and culture.This paper illustrates English idioms in Our Kids-The American Dream in Crisis and translated implication-matched pattern in Chinese version,with the summary of strategies and methods for translating English idioms under different implication-matched pattern.In the process of finding implication-matched pattern of English and Chinese idiom,the author notices that affected by various cultural aspects(like geography,custom,literary tradition,religious belief and so on),English idiom and Chinese idiom owns different implication-matched pattern,which could be divided into three patterns: basically matched,partially matched and incompletely-matched.This paper suggests several strategies and methods under those three patterns,combined with Nida’s theory of dynamic equivalence,and proposes suggestions to English idiom translation. |
