Strategies And Methods For Translating English Idioms Through Culture Aspect ——Reflections On The Translation Of Our Kids-The American Dream In Crisis

Language is one of the most important tools for communication,through which people preserve and deliver the achievements of human culture,and thus language could reflect local culture.As a typical form of language,idiom is deeply influenced by local language and culture.This paper illustrates English idioms in Our Kids-The American Dream in Crisis and translated implication-matched pattern in Chinese version,with the summary of strategies and methods for translating English idioms under different implication-matched pattern.In the process of finding implication-matched pattern of English and Chinese idiom,the author notices that affected by various cultural aspects（like geography,custom,literary tradition,religious belief and so on）,English idiom and Chinese idiom owns different implication-matched pattern,which could be divided into three patterns: basically matched,partially matched and incompletely-matched.This paper suggests several strategies and methods under those three patterns,combined with Nida’s theory of dynamic equivalence,and proposes suggestions to English idiom translation.
