Chen Fuchen And His Historical Thought

Content: Chen Fuchen lived in the late Qing Dynasty,in a period of change in China.On that occasion,China had shocked by the First Opium war.Due to the Western civilization was introduced into China,the Chinese traditional culture was impacted.By the traditional Chinese culture and Western historical thought,his historical thought has distinct characteristics of the times.While,Chinese traditional historiography was still domination.The first chapter : Describe the life of Chen Fuchen.As a traditional Chinese scholars,Chinese traditional history plays a very important role of his thought.Suffer the Western civilization influence,especially the introduction of Western history,he lauched the newspaper and was active in politics.The second chapter: Describe the main narrative Chen Fuchen's historical works.Briefly describe the articles published in the New World Journal,and the articles of taking part in the Imperial examination.Describe the content characteristics and gener features and academic significance of his “General History of China”in the Imperial College;and the compiling method and compiling Structure of “New Geography History”.By the influence of Western historiography,Chen Fuchen put forward the improvement of Chinese historiography,but because of the objective conditions are not mature,not put into practice.The third chapter: Mainly elaborate Chen Fuchen's unique views of history.Mainly describe from the history is a science;“four methods” for historians and“five requirements”for readers and the hiotory of the people.He put forward the literary genre of general history.He regard the history as a science and combined western historical thought especially “new historiography”and traditional historical thought together.The fourth chapter: That is the conclusion which discusses the academic significance of Chen Fu Chen's historical thought.
