A Study On The City-god And Tittle Of God’s Temple In The Ming And Qing Dynasties

With the foundation of the city,the faith of the city gradually developed,during Tang and Song dynasties,the city-god has been given name.During the Ming and Qing dynasties,because the city-god was promoted by official government and attached great importance to the god which made its have the new meaning and represent new characteristics.The text is divided into four chapters:The first chapter introduces the meaning and development of the city.The city that is the wall and the moat,and the city-god which is the patron saint of the ancient city.When the city-god was in the process of development,it became from the natural god to the personality god.When Ming and Qing dynasties,the city-god became a kind of official natural god,made the article of faith with a strong political color and enlightenment function.The second chapter mainly introduces the general situation of city-god titles and the giving of god’s temple during the Ming and Qing dynasties.Rulers of the Ming and Qing dynasties established the legal status of article of faith by giving the plaques,troublesome sealing seal numbers in order to strengthen the theocracy.The third chapter mainly introduces the reasons of giving the city-god titles.It is divided into two parts.The first one is searched citizen,safeguard the order of the rule;the second one is that eliminate evil blessing the aid of auspicious titles.In a word,it is used for the sake of the whole world peace and stability of country by giving the letter.The fourth chapter presents the influence of titles and giving.They were given by the rulers of Ming and Qing dynasties promoted the development of the city-god belief in a certain extent.On the other hand it also hand an effect on the stability of social order,at the same time it also involved the influence of the local economic,social and cultural aspects.
