The translation material was chosen from Chapter Five of the book The Wisdom to Choose written by Dixon Arnett and Wende Dawson Chan.This translation report includes the following four parts: task description,translation procedure description,case study and summary.The first part introduces the source of the translation materials,the authors and the book.The second part includes preparation for translation,translation check and polish.And preparation for translation involves reading the material,referring to the living environment background and retirement plans of American elders and the choice of translation tools,etc.The third part,the core of the translation report,introduces skills in this translation practice.In this part,the writer mainly analyzes case study from the aspects of vocabulary,syntax and cultural context.The last part draws a conclusion of the translator's experience,weaknesses and future endeavor in this translation practice.Through this translation practice,the writer uses translation theories,methods and skills which she has learned,and profoundly realizes the importance of basic knowledge as well as her deficiency in English and Chinese.
