The procrastination is a high-frequency vocabulary that describes a behavior in present society,which appears in all aspects of people's study and work.Academic procrastination,as it can be seen from the name,specifically refers to the procrastination in study.It appears widely within the college students on their campus lives and affects the students' study and life.The degree of relatively light in academic procrastination will make the individual anxious,while the heavy procrastination affect students' normal lives and even their physical and mental health.In recent years,our country began to pay sever attention to the academic procrastination of college students.Academic procrastination is not only a manifestation of behavior,but also a symbolic expression of individual psychological characteristics.Self-efficacy is one of the psychological elements of the individual.To some extent,it can represent the individual's self-evaluation,self-confidence,perseverance,etc..What's more,the degree of self-efficacy will affect the individual's choice of activities,as well as the way of dealing with challenges.Meanwhile,the self-efficacy behavior plays a great role in academic procrastination.In the past,most of the academic procrastination started from the internal causes of the individual,ignoring the external aspects.Family,as the minimum unit of social groups,is the direct growing and living environment ofindividuals.In addition,family function does affect the individual's psychological state and behavior and play a vital role on the individual physiological and psychological development.Based on a large number of pertinent literature,this study mainly explores the relationship between academic procrastination and family function,self-efficacy and the mechanism of self-efficacy in family function and academic procrastination.This study provides abundant theoretical basis for the causes and influencing factors of college students' academic procrastination.Also it provides a more scientific way for college students to reduce their academic procrastination.In this study,five universities in Hunan Province were randomly sampled,namely: key universities(985/211),general universities and higher vocational universities.The Family Assessment Device(FAD),the General Self-Efficacy(GSES)and The Procrastination Assessment Scale—Students(PASS)were used to collect 602 valid questionnaires(637 copies in all)by the form of questionnaires.SPSS 19.0 software was used to analyze the valid data.The conclusions are as follows:1.There is no significant difference in gender between family function and academic procrastination.The family function of boys and girls is similar to that of academic procrastination.But there is a significant difference in self-efficacy in terms of gender,and the self-efficacy of girls is higher than that of boys.It can come to anconclusion that girls have more confidence in a wide range of situations.2.There is no difference in the type of schools for family function.In other words,the relationship between school and family function is not related.But there is a significant difference between self-efficacy and academic procrastination in school type.The higher of self-efficacy,the less the degree of academic procrastination.3.There are significant correlations between family function,self-efficacy and academic procrastination in college students.Family function is positively related to self-efficacy.Family function and academic procrastination are negatively correlated,and self-efficacy and academic procrastination are negatively correlated.4.Family function and self-efficacy can be negative when predicting academic procrastination.The family function is better,the individual's self-efficacy is higher,and the lighter in the degree of academic procrastination.5.Self-efficacy plays a mediating role between family function and academic procrastination.The family function can directly affect the degree of academic procrastination,but also through the impact of self-efficacy to affect academic procrastination.
