The Chinese nation has five thousand years of excellent culture,the ancestors left a large number of cultural relics for us through their wisdom and hands.Cultural relics have an extraordinary significance for the study of ancient Chinese culture,but a lot of cultural relics suffered a different degree of damage by the history and nature and other reasons.In recent years,the state has invested a lot of energy in the protection of cultural relics and monuments,on the one hand,for the purpose of digital protection,and on the other hand,to better disseminate Chinese culture and enhance the tourism value of cultural relics on a global scale.The three-dimensional laser scanning technology is a kind of advanced mapping technology,which has the advantages of non-contact,high precision and fast data acquisition.It can directly obtain the point cloud data of the target surface,which provides a new way for the reconstruction of 3D model in the digital protection of cultural relics and monuments.Therefore,the technology is widely used in cultural relics protection,archaeological mapping,reverse engineering and many other fields.How to deal with the massive cloud data,get the high quality point cloud,improve the efficiency of digital model reconstruction of cultural relics and how to make the general public more common to see the results of digital display is still the focus of the current research.This paper first introduces the knowledge of 3D laser scanning technology,including its working principle,working flow,mainstream equipment currently used.Secondly,the digital reconstruction process and texture mapping method of different target objects are studied by using ground and hand-held three-dimensional laser scanning equipment,and the precision is verified.And then the three-dimensional reconstruction of the model is carried out by using two different models.Thirdly,the building information model(BIM)technology is used to reconstruct the ancient building,and the ancient building BIM is established.Finally,using the VRP software platform of the virtual display in the visualization of a three-dimensional cultural relics results.
