The thesis is a report on the mock interpreting practice of Shanghai' s Government Press Conference Chaired by Yang Xiong in 2015. In order to make the mock interpreting more real and avoid the blindness of practice, the author has done some prediction of possible problems in the mock interpreting, according to Daniel Gile's effort model on consecutive interpreting and in combination with the characteristics of government press conference. Thereafter, some feasible solutions are explored on the basis of previous research. At last, the process and result of the mock interpreting indicate the author's earlier preparation both in practice and theory is effective. Though from a different perspective, the author still has much room for improvement, the enlightenment brought to the author by the practice is valuable. What's more, the preset purpose of the practice-providing some guidance to similar interpreting activities by the author and other interpreters in the future and some research material for follow-up study has been achieved.Later on,enlightened by previous research and in combination with the author's own feeling about the mock interpreting, the author conducts an on-line investigation, exploringly proposing several hypothetical principles for government press conference interpreting, including faithfulness, fluency, speediness, simplicity, logical cohesion, proper style and native accent. It is hoped that these principles could serve as a modest spur to similar research on this field in the future.
