A Translation Report Of World Trade Report,2015

This paper is a translation report. The text of the translation project is an excerpt from World Trade Report, 2015, which was issued by World Trade Organization (WTO) on October 26th, 2015. The author just chooses the first chapter (Introduction) and the second chapter (Trade facilitation in context) as this translation project. The World Trade Report,2015 is about benefits and challenges of implementing the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA). It examines why the TFA is so important, what its economic impact is projected to be, and how the WTO is taking a number of important and novel steps to help countries to maximize its benefits.This report presents a detailed description of how the translation was done, focusing on the analysis of difficulties encountered and the ways to address these obstacles. The conclusions of this report are expected to offer some tentative advices on how to handle the translation of similar text. This report is composed of four chapters: The first chapter is introduction, which mainly introduces the reasons to choose World Trade Report, 2015 as this translation project, the project background, objectives and significance. Chapter two is preparation before translation. The third chapter is the key part of this translation report, in which the author analyses the translation difficulties, solutions and proofreading. The difficulties lie in the translation of terms concerning trade and economy, the conversion of words with varying meanings, the translation of long and complex subordinate clauses and the logical analysis of discourse. In order to address the difficulties, the author proposes some solutions, specifically, some concrete solutions: precision, specification,segmentation and preposition. Chapter four is conclusion which includes experience,lessons and unresolved issues in this translation project.
