As the founder of Jiangnan painting on the occasion of the Ming and Qing dynasty change,Gongxian, who integrates the description and language of other painters in different historical dynasties, creates the unique painting style of many ages, subverts the painting schema since Ming dynasty, gives the landscape painting a new explanation by combining stand-alone and imperceptible painting with thorough thought, which produces important influence on the past and future era. There are many papers researching Qongxian,an adherent of former dynasty,in recent decades, which make great achievements in the field of the changes of painting of Qongxian, space schemata, and so on.However, most studies focus on the painting style of work, the spatial representation of landscape painting, artistic conception, and the sceneries influenced by painters' mood after the destruction of their families. In the image-building of 'Scholar' in Gongxian's painting, numerous researchers focus on the details of his artwork, which make them concentrate on the changes caused by grief of the last, lack of overall concern, lose sight of association among the painters and interaction between sponsors and merchants from Anhui, set forth their thought by the image of reflection and the choices of times, which proves the choices and status of radical changes in Jiangnan art circles with Qongxian predominating.Under the chase of backing to the ancients ideology and advocating wonder tasting, this essay reveals the fact that resistance and struggle for old orders of the scholars of Ming dynasty due to their loss of Confucian social ideals, and calibrates the basic concepts and ideal pursuit confusing by anxious times, also, great efforts made by scholars,is the key aspect in this thesis, which further proves the inherent meaning of 'Scholar' in the painting.
