An Analysis Of The Topics Content And Exercises Design Of Advanced Chinese Audio Visual Textbooks

With the development of society and technology,Chinese audio visual teaching becomes more and more popular.The research of the courses and materials arose concern.Even though the compiling and publishing of the Chinese audio visual teaching materials has made some progress,it is necessary to do massive research on this filed.Through the analysis of the longitudinal development of the publishing,we found that the material selection varies a lot.So this article chose three different types’ materials:Home With Kids,Learning Chinese From Movies,Perfect Match.We focused on topics and exercises of these three materials,searching for the features and difference,and tried to find the influence of the different types on the topics and exercises.Based on the analysis,we proposed some advice for the compilation of the Chinese audio visual materials.Through the analysis on the topics of the materials,compared with other two materials,the distribution of topics of Perfect Match are more abroad and the numbers of the topics are higher.So we considered that Perfect Match reflects the principles of choose.We talked about the arrangement of the topics,and we found that:First,the textbooks have their own focus of the topics,the content of materials make the focus trendy.Second,the topics’ types of Perfect Match,Learning Chinese From Movies are richer.Third,the way of topics compiling is mainly dialogue,and the material selection affect the way.Forth,the difference of the material selection makes the order of the compiling have various features.Through the integration analysis of the exercises of the materials,we found that the three materials reflected the compiling way of the intensive reading materials,focusing on the text’ learning.From the perspective of the information processing,output came out after the input,and the three textbooks reflects the teaching idea of combining listening,watching,speaking together.Through the analysis of combination of exercises,we found that:First,the way of exercises arrangement of Perfect Match,Home with kids followed the traditional order,that is vocabulary,sentence structures,then passages.And the steps of Learning Chinese From Movies are more clear,reflecting the idea of combining the intensive listening and extensive listening together.Second,the exercises of Home with kids paid attention to the consistency of topics of the exercises.Some exercises of Learning Chinese From Movies,Perfect Match are designed for the grammar,lack of context.Third,the way of exercises participation of these three textbooks is the simple one direction linear way,cooperation work came after individual work,and dominated by individual work.Forth,the skills training of the exercises of the three textbooks are reasonable.The exercises gave priority to the listening and speaking skills training,the amount of output exercises are little bigger than input exercises.The material selection had enormous influence on the arrangement of the topics,including the numbers,the emphasis,the way of compiling,and the order sequence.And the material selection had effect on the exercises design,including the types and relation to the topics.At last but not least,combined with the research result,we proposed some advice for the compilation of the Chinese audio and visual materials.First,the types of materials should be diversified,but we should be strict with the contents.Second,establish an abroad corpus based on the topics.Third,reinforce the relation and consistency of the topics content between the texts and exercises.Forth,attach the importance to the listening and speaking training.Last but not least,lay emphasis on the development of the ability of self-directed learning.
