Textbook writing is one of the four major links in language teaching,occupying a very important position in the whole process of teaching Chinese to speakers of other languages(TCSOL).Being the authoritative learning material,it is the basis not only for teachers' classroom teaching,but also for students' daily learning activities.With the development of the cause of TCSOL,the “Three Concerns”(teacher education,textbook development and pedagogical research)has gradually become the focus of the study,and the textbook development has became the carrier of testing teachers' teaching ability and teaching methods.According to the analysis above,in this paper,I selected two elementary textbooks of the second language teaching in English and Chinese for comparative analysis: New Concept English(the first volume)and Learn Chinese with me(the first volume).By analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of the two textbooks,it is supposed to pick up some useful teaching cases,which can provide some suggestions of compiling textbook of Chinese as a second language(CSL)in text selection,Chinese language element compilation and exercise design,etc.This article is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly introduces the reasons of the topic selection,the research significance,the research methods and the related research summaries of the paper.The second chapter is the comparative analysis from macroscopical aspect,it deals with writing principle and compiling structure.The third chapter is the comparison of main substance from microcosmic aspect,it focuses on text,vocabulary,grammar,culture,practice and teaching assistant resources,Which includes the topic,genre and content of text,selection range,difficulty,and reproduction rate of vocabulary,presentation style and difficulty degree of grammar,cultural characteristics,type of exercises,and teaching materials and other types of resources.The fourth chapter is the conclusion and recommendations of this article,and it is also the purpose of this paper.The fifthchapter is the summary.Through the comparative analysis of the two textbooks,it is found that although English and Chinese belong to different language systems,there are many similarities in writing and compiling as the second language textbooks.For example,the topic of the text is closely related to the daily life,and the words' arrangement is consistent with the learners' learning rules.On the contrary,there are differences,for example,the grammar's repetitive rate of the two textbooks is different.The grammar's repetitive rate of New Concept English is more beneficial to learners.These differences are also the focus of the two textbooks.By analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of the textbooks,we can absorb its quintessence and provide effective suggestions for the compiling and revising of the textbook for teaching Chinese as a second language(TCSL).I will try my best to promote the Chinese textbooks and drive the development of TCSOL.
