| This is a Chinese-English simultaneous interpreting(herein after referred to as C-E SI)report based on a speech at the 2016 Annual Conference of the Northeast Asia International Language and Culture Research Base.The author served as a C-E simultaneous interpreter for Prof.Quan Helv from the College of Foreign Languages of Jilin University at the conference.The author concluded by analyzing the recording of both the speech and her interpretation to form the practice report.The first part gives a description of the interpreting task.The author describes the background of the practice,the task allocation and the speaker’s speech features.The second part is the interpreting process.The author introduces the preparation of the task,the SI process,as well as the assessments after interpretation.Then the author classifies problems encountered in the practice,involving information loss,misinterpreting and improper pauses and analyzes causes.Finally,coping strategies are put forward,including anticipation,deverbalization and segmentation.This is the author’s first SI which gives her a clearer understanding of SI.The author finds problems,provides solutions,and hopes to give some suggestions to other interpreters on similar materials. |
