This is a translation project report on Practical Programming for Strength Training by Mark Ripptoe.The third edition of this book is published in 2013 by The Aasgaard Company.This book takes the general adaptation theory as the overall theoretical basis to present a series of training program for athlete from novice to advance trainee,powerlifting fans and individuals who pursues strength improvement.Taking Newmark's communicative translation theory as the guidance,the translator tries to pose on second readers an effect as close as possible to that obtained on the readers of the original.It is achievable with the help of some translation techniques such as conversion,division and inversion.The report consists of four chapters.The brief introduction of the source text,the significance of the translation project and the layout of the whole translation project is introduced in the first chapter.In the second chapter,the communicative theory,which is the theoretical basis for the report is explicated,and guided by Newmark's Textbook of Translation,the translator conducts a detailed analysis to the source text in three aspects.The Third Chapter presents difficulties that were encountered in translation and what are translation techniques that are used to tackle these difficulties so to convey the original meaning of the source text to the target reader.The fourth chapter concludes experience learned and improvements that should be made.
