Abstract/Summary:
This is a translation project report. The source text is Financial Education and the Debt Behavior of the Young published by Oxford University Press. This paper analyzes the relationship between financial education and debt outcome in early adulthood, and is conducive to reducing delinquencies and gaining higher credit scores.Financial Education and the Debt Behavior of the Young is an informative text, hence an effective information delivery is the ultimate goal of the translator.Nida’s functional equivalence theory states that in translation, priority should be given to content over form on the condition that they can’t be accomplished at the same time.Under the guidance of the theory, the translator deploys some key English-to-Chinese translation techniques such as addition, conversion and restructuring in the process of the translation with an aim to achieve maximum faithfulness and expressiveness in the target text. This translation project is not only of great significance in elevating the translator’s industry skill, but also beneficial for Chinese scholars and young readers to get some latest insights on the relationship between financial education,debt-related outcomes as well as the reduction of delinquencies.
