The translation material is taken from the section 3 and section 4 of the first chapter of the book A little History of British Gardening written by Jenny Uglow,who is a British biographer.The book is a nonfiction work.The translation report mainly consists the following four parts: task description,translation process description,case analysis and translation practice summary.The first part introduces the source of translation material,author and the work content;The second part includes preparation for translation,the review and polish of the translated text.In the preparation for translation,the translator reads the original text several times,analyzes its characteristics,refers to the relevant knowledge and chooses several translation assistive tools.The third part is the core of the translation report.In this part,the translator chooses some typical cases and analyzes them from five aspects: vocabulary,syntax,punctuation,text and culture and analyzes the application of “choose the word meaning in context”,“voice conversion”,etc.The last part draws a conclusion of the author’s experience in this translation practice.During the translation,the translator realizes the importance of translation theories,realizes that translation is not an easy work and finally has a further knowledge of translation.
