The purpose of the writing of this practice report is to analyze the difficulties in the translation process,describe the translation methods,and summarize the translation practice experience.The material of this translation practice report is excerpted from Chapter Two of A Little History of British Gardening written by British writer Jenny Uglow,which is a non-literary documentary work,and its language is not very difficult.This translation report is mainly composed of four parts: translation task description,translation process,translation case analysis,and translation practice.Part One introduces the source of the translation material,the work content and the meaning of the translation task.Part Two mainly talks about the difficulties in pre-translation preparation,the revision and polish of the first draft.Part Three is translation case analysis and it is the core of this report.The translator selected a number of typical translation examples and analyzed them from five aspects: vocabulary,syntax,punctuation,religious culture and poetry,and these mainly involve such translation difficulties as word meaning in context,part-of-speech conversion,voice conversion and religious culture.Part Four mainly summarizes the translator?s experience in translation of gardening texts.By writing this translation practice report,the translator improves his translation ability.At the same time,the translator also realizes that strengthening Chinese learning should always be a life career for every qualified translator.
