Based on network teaching platform,flipped classroom model changes the order of knowledge instruction and knowledge internalization.That is,flipped classroom model requires students to learn the teaching contents autonomously,and then puts the traditional homework or practice in class.This model embodies the internationalization,informationization and personalization of contemporary education.The advantages and feasibility of flipped classroom model in teaching have been verified in foreign countries,so it is a promising new teaching model.In China,there are progressively increasing researches in flipped classroom,but the application of this model in college spoken English class is rare.Chinese college spoken English teaching research has yielded substantial results in recent years,but students still have low activity and engagement in class,poor initiative of learning and little chance and time of practicing spoken English.This study intends to testify the applicability and efficacy of flipped classroom model in college spoken English class and whether it is conducive to improve students’ spoken English proficiency and autonomous learning ability,then explores students’ attitudes toward flipped classroom teaching model.The subjects of this experiment are non-English major sophomores and the teaching experiment lasts for twelve weeks.The subjects are divided into experimental class and control class,then the experiment class adopts flipped classroom model during the experiment.Besides,this experiment employs tests,questionnaires and interview as the instruments,and combines quantitative and qualitative research methods.The data are analyzed with the aid of SPSS 21.0.The main findings are as follow: 1)According to the analysis of the scores of pre-test and post-test,students in EC make much progress in the accuracy and fluency of spoken English compared with CC,so flipped classroom model is helpful to improve students’ spoken English proficiency.2)Based on the result analysis of questionnaires and interview,flipped classroom model gains students’ support and recognition.In flipped classroom,students’ autonomous and interactive learning ability and oral communicative ability are obviously improved.In addition,it is found that flipped classroom model is beneficial to increase students’ learning enthusiasm and class participation.Students in CC still have low learning initiative and enthusiasm.3)According to the results of interview,the suggestions for localizing flipped classroom model are perfecting teaching platform,abandoning the single evaluation system of spoken English level and promoting small-class teaching.This study testifies the feasibility and efficiency of flipped classroom model in college spoken English classes,and then provides suggestions for the localization of this model.This study is expected to provide reference for flipped classroom teaching in the future. |
