A Comparative Study On Poetry Composed By Xiao Three Brothers

Classical Chinese poetry can classify into the ancient-style and the recent-style,the Qi and Liang dynasties are the key stage for the transition of the ancient style and the recent style.The creation by Xiao Tong,Xiao Gang,Xiao Yi and men of letters in their time plays a vital role during this period,therefore,the extension and thorough study on the poetry composed by Xiao three brothers is of great significance in the development of Classical Chinese poetry.This paper has a research on the similarities and differences of poetry composed by Xiao three brothers from comparative angle,previous studies focus on macro perspective,this kind of research belongs to relative academic history research or thematic research.Based on the pioneers’ research progress,this paper chooses comparative perspective as entry points,the three brothers’ respective features in the art of poetry can be seen from comparative angle,and by comparison,the shift of literary form of poetry under the influence of Xiao three brothers can be seen.Xiao Gang and Xiao Yi’s existing poetry quantity are relatively better than Xiao Tong’s,so this paper firstly does a survey of three brothers based on their deeds and life as well as the spreading of their poems in an attempt to do clear research on relevant background material and literature.Secondly,this paper mentions the quantity and the classification of three brother’s poems in a bid to grasp the understanding of three brothers’ poetry subject,and on this basis,the differences among three brothers’poetry subject can be contrasted.Thirdly,this paper refers to the discussion about artistic style of three brothers’ poems by using "Yan" as a center.Finally,this paper does a survey in terms of later generation’s acceptance and influence of three brothers’poetry.This article consists of four parts:The first chapter is "Xiao three brothers’ life and their existing poetry"-survey centered on background and literature.This part firstly describes their communications with literary group around Xiao three brothers’,and then narrates their life and poetic creation in relevant period;at last,this part introduces literature and their poetry’s influence on the later generation.The second chapter is "content analysis of Xiao three brothers’ poetry-comparison centered on subject matter",this chapter mainly makes a classification of Xiao three brothers’ poetry focusing on subject matter,and then makes a comparison of different kinds of numbers in similarity.The third chapter is the survey of poetic form of Xiao three brothers’-comparison of classification centered on "Yan".Focusing on the center of "Yan",this chapter makes a comparison of four-character-poetry,five-character-poetry,seven-word-poetry,and mixed metric poem composed by Xiao three brothers.The fourth chapter is "the acceptance by the later generation of Xiao three brothers’ poetic style",this chapter mentions the acceptance by the later generation of Xiao Tong’s poetry under the influence of "Zhao Ming Selected Works",and then this chapter mentions Xiao Gang and Xiao Yi’s poetic style centered on Palace-poem and their work’s evaluation by the public and posterity.
