The Whizz Pop Chocolate Shop is one of the children’s works by Kate Saunders,an English writer. This is a translation report related to the difficult points after translating Chapters 7-10 of the book under the guidance of reception theory. It focuses on three aspects of children’s literature and analyzes the translation version from the phonological level, the lexical level and the syntactic level. The author of the report dug into what a role the reception theory is playing in the translation of children’s literature by means of translating some chapters of the novel as well as doing some analyses of it.As is mentioned above, the original text is children’s literature.Children’s literature makes a difference in the process of children’s growth. As target readers, children have their own unique personality, ages and psychological characteristics.Due to characteristics mentioned above, the translator should pay attention to reception ability of target readers all the time.As for reception theory, the readers are the center and take the first position in all the tasks. As a result, the translation which is suitable for the target readers can be achieved only when taking all kinds of characteristics and understanding ability as well as reception ability of the children into account. In the analysis of some examples adopted from the translation, the author analyzes the translation from the phonological level, the lexical level and the syntactic level on the basis of reception theory. It is required that the language habit of children should conform to the points of the phonological level. As to vocabulary, the words that children are liable to accept should make a contribution during the translation. At the syntactic level,as the target readers are children,it is the best way to use the single and short sentences instead of the long and difficult ones. Then the target readers are bound to understand what the author of the target text wants to express and get the main idea of the original text.So to sum up,we can draw a conclusion that the translator should take into full account the role and the status of readers, which is a valuable concept in the reception theory, thus attaching importance to the readers in the process of translation. In addition, every translator should revolve around the role of readers and consider all the characteristics of the target readers.Under the guidance of the reception theory, the author of the report translates the original text cautiously and analyzes the translation wisely to make sure the translation will accord with the reception ability of children.
