Since Khrushchev made a secret report of "On Personal Worships and Its Consequences" at the 20th National Congress of the Soviet Communist Party 1956,starting from the Soviet Union, there emerged a wave of de-Stalinization in some Eastern Europe countries, among which there had erupted large-scale mass incidents in Germany,Poland,Hungary,Czechoslovakia and some other countries. However,Bulgaria maintained a relatively stable state under such background:There were neither large-scale mass incidents nor did the relationship with the Soviet Union deteriorate.By analyzing relevant historical data and interpreting de-Stalinization factors in high-level political changes of Bulgaria, this thesis intends to explore the root causes of this situation in Bulgaria. The preface introduces the source of the problem, the review of academic research and the source of historical data.Chapter one is to find out the origin of de-Stalinization in Bulgaria.Chapter two focuses on the responses of Bulgaria to the impact of the Soviet Union in terms of the relationship between the 20th National Congress of the Soviet Communist Party and the Bulgaria "April Plenary Session" and the influence of Kostov case.Chapter three describes the development and the end of de-Stalinization in Bulgaria.Polish and Hungarian incident was the turning point in Bulgaria "de-Stalinization" campaign.Since then the political process of Bulgaria has been fully retrogressed, and began to re-criticize a group of people. The concluding chapter summarizes the influence of de-Stalinization on the political ecology of Bulgaria, explains the reasons why there were neither large-scale mass incidents in Bulgaria nor did the relationship between Bulgaria and the Soviet Union deteriorate and makes an assessment of the effects of the movement. From the actual situation and the result of de-Stalinization,Bulgaria's de-Stalinization is distorted and cannot be called a success.Appendix I includes some of the relevant historical information in the writing process of finishing the thesis.Appendix ? is a chart of major events for reference.
